High Street Revival

A LONG-term neighbour has snapped up a medical centre on a renowned Brisbane high street that has had its fair share of “ups and downs”.

Sources say Conias Corporation, controlled by Spero Conias who owns the Transcontinental Hotel on George St in the Brisbane CBD, paid $4.301m for the property at 79 Racecourse Rd, Ascot, that was owned by the Spork family, who developed it in the 1960s.

Conias Corporation owns the two-level Conias Business Centre next door at 85 Racecourse Rd and recently Silverstone Developments purchased a retail centre on the other side at 77 Racecourse Rd for $9.75m.

Burgess Rawson’s Andrew Havig, who struck the deal with Campbell Bowers, said it was a “pretty crazy auction”.
