Burgess Rawson welcomes FoodWorks to Roxy Central
25/08/2020
Commercial property agent Burgess Rawson has announced that FoodWorks will open its doors in 2021 at new neighbourhood shopping centre, Roxy Central in Roxburgh Park.
Burgess Rawson senior leasing executive, Arton Meka, who has managed the leasing campaign at Roxy Central, said another supermarket had pre-committed but couldn’t proceed.
“This presented an interesting challenge – finding a new 1,615 sqm supermarket to anchor the site with construction moving at full steam,’ said Mr Meka. “We were able to move quickly, reaching out to a number of supermarket operators that we have strong pre-existing relationships with.’
Burgess Rawson’s project leasing team has built a solid reputation for negotiating, planning, design and delivery and the FoodWorks deal was no exception.
“We managed a highly efficient timeline that balanced all stakeholders’ interests,’ said Mr Meka. “In the end, the deal was completed with FoodWorks just prior to the slab being poured.’
FoodWorks will relocate from their existing 900sqm store at Roxburgh Park to a much larger store and on stronger commercials than their previous commitment, demonstrating the confidence in Roxburgh Park and the northern growth corridor.
Burgess Rawson has solid experience in the northern region with successful leasing campaigns in Craigieburn, Wollert, Epping and Epping North recently.
Mr Meka said that securing FoodWorks demonstrates that independents are still very active in the market, across all sizes. “Supermarkets and bottle shops have seen a surge in sales as a result of COVID-19,’ he said. “Consequently, we are seeing an activity spike in this sector of the leasing market.’
Roxy Central is a 5,000 sqm neighbourhood centre in Roxburgh Park in Melbourne’s north. Burgess Rawson secured 75% of the site prior to construction commencing and is now 90% pre-committed. The site will include a full range of uses including restaurants, small format food and beverage, beauty, liquor, gym and retail services.
