Setting the benchmark – Jane Pinney

“There is no typical day and l enjoy that – it’s challenging and keeps me on my toes!”.
This sums up Jane Pinney beautifully. Jane is Burgess Rawson’s Melbourne Office Manager and critical member of the team for nine years. Burgess Rawson’s growth has been enormous since Jane joined in 2012, turning what may once have been a smaller role into one of the busiest and most dynamic positions within the agency

What attracts you to the commercial investment industry?

I have been immersed in the property industry my entire career. Property definitely runs through my veins.

I started out as an Executive Assistant at Stockdale and Leggo for co-founder Russell Leggo.

This was a fantastic introduction to the industry and provided great exposure to all areas of an agency from sales support, finance, even contract writing.

I then cut my commercial property teeth as an office and property manager at Melbourne Property Services for several years, supporting the Managing Director in all facets of the business.

At Burgess Rawson, it is the deep technical knowledge that we provide our clients that l find rewarding – it is definitely well above industry standard. We pride ourselves on the long-lasting relationships we have with our clients and it’s that level of expertise and adaptability that really sets us apart.

What would be a key career highlight?

Last year was certainly challenging but a highlight was how we worked together as a team to manage the constantly shifting conditions.

We successfully managed working from home, onboarding new team members and returning to the office safely, while continuing to service our clients and bring great property to market.

A key highlight was adapting our signature Portfolio Auctions to remote events. While it took a lot of work, both the team and our clients really embraced the changes. Many of the practices introduced during this time were so successful, they now form part of our normal operations day to day. I am really proud of how well we adapted as a group.
